The Diet Doc program also incorporates lean protein every few hours unlike the 500 calorie diet where the first meal is lunch, skipping breakfast entirely. Not eating until lunch has the additional effect of gradually slowing down the metabolism and therefore needing to take a 6 week break every month. Some muscle can also be lost as the dietary protein levels are inadequate to compensate for the relative starvation during the first half of the day.

The original Simeons protocol and 500 calorie diet also severely restricted fats with no exception (even to the point of restricting cosmetics). Restricting fats while on a ketogenic diet can further compound the drop in BMR (basal metabolic rate) because sufficient ketones aren’t able to to produced by the liver from body fat alone (this is especially true for type II diabetics). Diet Doc incorporates a propriety medium chain triglyceride (MCT oil) into their diet plans which gets quickly converted by the liver into ketones. This not only allows for an increase in energy, but helps prevent the drop in BMR associated with a more restrictive 500 calorie diet because there is a more stable source of energy during the low calorie phase of the diet.

With most people needing to lose between 30 and 40 pounds, having to take a 6 week break right in the middle of your weight loss goals can be very derailing. In addition the metabolic slowdown associated with the 500 calorie diet means that it’s very easy to gain weight back during the 6 week break because of the extreme deprivation and irregular meal times of the 500 calorie diet.

While the berry diet does make you gain energy,any fruit will.Eating and drinking healthier throughout the day helps to make a happier attitude and higher metabolism.

It doesn’t,however,help you to lose weight.It helps in that category just about as much as a glass of apple juice.
